Mark Galer is a seasoned professional photographer, educator, and author, a former contributing editor for Australian Photography magazine, an Adobe Ambassador and Photoshop Guru. Mark published his 30th book with Focal Press in 2015, has served as a Senior Lecturer and Program Director of the BA Photography course at RMIT University in Melbourne and is a Sony Global Imaging Ambassador.
Mark Galer is British by birth and is currently based in Melbourne, Australia. ￼
Mark acquired a passion for travel when he circumnavigated the world by motorcycle between 1986-1988 while writing and illustrating articles for the news media, motorcycling press and charitable publications. His work has subsequently appeared in numerous international publications over the years and he is a recognised author for Focal Press with thirty books to his name.
Although the vast majority of his work is commercial, he occasionally exhibits personal work such as at the Lumens festival in 2012 where it was screened in Suzhou, Jiangsu and Federation Square, Melbourne and is building a personal collection of abstracts called TimeScapes.
Mark has been a leading educator since 1990 and is a former Program Director of BA Photography at RMIT University, Melbourne. He is an authority on both capture and post-production workflows and freely shares this information on his personal website www.markgaler.com
